On 9 October 2025, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature 2025 to Hungarian author László Krasznahorkai “for his compelling and visionary oeuvre that, in the midst of apocalyptic terror, reaffirms the power of art.” He became the second Hungarian writer to receive this honour after Imre Kertész in 2002.
