India’s First Cooperative Multi-Feed CBG and Potash Granule Production Facility Inaugurated in Maharashtra.

On October 5, 2025, Union Minister of Home Affairs (MHA) and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated India’s first cooperative multi-feed Compressed Biogas (CBG) and Potash Granule production facility at the Maharshi Shankarrao Kolhe Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd., Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra. The initiative supports GoI’s “Waste to Wealth” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” missions.

🎯 Key Highlights:

  • - The project was developed under the Ministry of Cooperation with the support of the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) and has a total budget outlay of Rs. 55 crore.
  • - The facility operates with a daily capacity of 12 tonnes of CBG and 75 tonnes of potash granules.
  • - The initiative was inaugurated in the presence of Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra; Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Ministers; and Union MoS for Cooperation Mohanbhai Kundariya. Their participation emphasized Maharashtra’s leadership in cooperative reforms and sustainable energy projects.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) Under NCDC’s model, the Government of India plans to extend this CBG and Potash Granule initiative to 15 additional cooperative sugar mills, boosting rural employment, energy security, and reducing chemical fertilizer dependency.
  • (ii) During the event, Amit Shah also unveiled statues of Dr. Vitthalrao Eknathrao Vikhe Patil and Balasaheb Vikhe Patil in Ahilyanagar. Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil was conferred the Padma Shri in 1961 for his contribution to Trade & Industry, while Balasaheb Vikhe Patil received the Padma Bhushan in 2010 for his work in Social Service and Cooperative Development.
