L&T Partners with BEL for India’s 5th Generation Fighter Jet Programme

In September 2025, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) signed a strategic partnership with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to support the development of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), India’s fifth-generation stealth fighter jet for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

  • - The AMCA programme, led by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), focuses on developing a twin-engine, stealth multirole fighter aircraft for IAF.
  • - The collaboration will combine L&T’s defence and aerospace manufacturing capabilities with BEL’s electronics and avionics expertise, enhancing AMCA development and production.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) The prototype of the AMCA is expected by 2028–29, with service induction targeted for 2034 and series production by 2035.
