In September 2025, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power (MoP), Government of India (GoI), introduced a new category under the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2025, targeting digital creators and influencers to spread awareness about energy conservation.

  • - The awards will be presented by President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on December 14, 2025, in New Delhi, Delhi.
  • - For the first time, digital creators and influencers are being recognized under NECA 2025 to amplify awareness on energy efficiency through their social media reach and creative content.
  • - The initiative seeks to harness the influence of digital platforms in promoting energy-saving habits and sustainable living practices aligned with Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment).

  • (i) Participation is open to creators with a minimum of 10,000 followers or subscribers on any major social media platform, ensuring broad outreach.
  • (ii) Participants must create original videos up to 90 seconds, in Hindi or any Indian language (with an English/Hindi transcript). Themes include energy-efficient practices such as setting ACs at 24°, using 5-star appliances, and sustainable celebrations.
  • (iii) Entries must be submitted via the official NECA portal and shared on social media using the hashtag #NECA2025, blending official recognition with public digital engagement.
