In September 2025, Union Minister of State (MoS) (Independent Charge, IC) Dr. Jitendra Singh, Ministry of Science and Technology (MoS&T) and Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), inaugurated the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Artificial Intelligence (AI), Skill Development, and Innovation at Graphic Era University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

  • - The campus is India’s first Generative AI Ready Campus, powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), designed to advance AI research, innovation, and industry collaboration.
  • - Developed at a cost of over Rs. 10 crore and spanning 1.5 lakh square feet, the centre is Uttarakhand’s first dedicated facility for AI research, skill development, and innovation.
  • - The CoE includes an Apple iOS (iPhone Operating System) Development Centre, established in collaboration with Apple and Infosys, enabling students and researchers to develop applications for iOS platforms and engage with global industry standards.

  • (i) Equipped with a NVIDIA DGX 8200 system featuring 8 GPUs and 1.74 TB GPU memory, the centre supports advanced AI research, high-performance computing, and complex data modeling, facilitating innovation in sectors like healthcare, agriculture, smart cities, environment, and advanced industries.
  • (ii) The CoE benefits researchers, startups, and students by providing access to advanced AI infrastructure and industry collaborations.
