On September 7, 2025, Kongsberg Maritime signed an agreement with Mandovi Drydocks, in partnership with Ripley Group, to deliver a fully integrated equipment package for India’s first electric tug at Deendayal Port, Kandla, Gujarat. The project marks a landmark under the Green Tug Transition Programme (GTTP).

  • - The contract was awarded to Mandovi Drydocks and Ripley Group under GTTP, making it a significant step in India’s port decarbonisation efforts.
  • - Kongsberg Maritime’s package includes PM-driven azimuth thrusters, Energy Storage System (ESS), automation and control solutions such as K-Chief PMS, and digital tools like Vessel Insight for performance monitoring.
  • - The tug has been designed by NavNautik India with a bollard pull of 60 tonnes and will be delivered and commissioned in 2026 with operational support from Kongsberg’s Global Customer Support team.
