On August 30, 2025, Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, was ranked as the 5th safest city for women in India, according to the National Annual Report & Index on Women's Safety (NARI) 2025, released by the National Commission for Women (NCW). The city achieved an impressive safety score of 70.4%, surpassing the national benchmark of 65%.
