Puducherry Becomes 19th Legislature to Adopt NeVA Platform.

On 9th June 2025, Dr. L. Murugan, Union Minister of State (MoS) for the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MoI&B) and Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MPA), inaugurated the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) for the Puducherry Legislative Assembly in Puducherry.

  • - The inauguration event was graced by Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, and Speaker of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly R. Selvam.
  • - NeVA, a Mission Mode Project under the Digital India programme, is developed to digitise legislative processes, promote paperless governance, and enhance citizen-centric legislative functioning.

  • (i) NeVA supports real-time access to legislative proceedings, aligning with the vision of "One Nation, One Application." It allows legislators and the public to engage more efficiently with parliamentary activities through digital means.
  • (ii) The platform is funded with 100% Central Assistance by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MPA).
  • (iii) The platform features digital access to legislative documents such as budget speeches, notices, and questions, enables paperless operations, and integrates AI/ML-powered real-time translation through BHASHINI (BHASHA INterface for India). It also includes live streaming of proceedings to foster transparency, public engagement, and accountability.
