S Padmanabhan Takes Over as Chairman of Tata Chemicals.

In May 2025, Tata Chemicals, headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, announced the appointment of S Padmanabhan as the new Chairman, effective May 30, 2025. He takes over from N Chandrasekaran, who stepped down as Director and Chairman with effect from May 29, 2025.

  • - Alongside this leadership change, the Board of Directors also approved the appointment of Modan Saha as an Additional Director, effective from May 28, 2025. This move is seen as part of Tata Chemicals’ strategic strengthening of its leadership team.
  • - S Padmanabhan brings with him over 40 years of experience within the Tata Group, having worked across multiple group companies. At Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), from 1982 to 2008, he served as Executive Director of Human Resources (HR) and Head of Application Development.
  • - Between 2008 and 2014, he was associated with Tata Power as Executive Director – Operations, where he oversaw the management of thermal and hydroelectric generation plants, as well as the transmission and distribution networks of Mumbai.

  • (i) At Tata Sons, he held the role of Group Chief HR Officer from 2016 to 2018, and also chaired the Tata Business Excellence Group (TBExG) and the Ethics function.
  • (ii) He currently serves as Chairman of Rallis India Limited and is a board member of Associated Building Company Limited, TCE Group Limited, and Tata Chemicals North America Inc.
