In May 2025, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAH&D) and Minister of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), laid the foundation stone for a Rs. 42.4 crore Integrated Aquapark in Kailashahar, Tripura, under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).

  • - The event also featured the inauguration of a one-day Fish Festival in Agartala, celebrating Tripura’s rich aquatic biodiversity and cultural heritage.
  • - The Integrated Aquapark will house hatcheries, feed mills, cold storage, processing units, training centers, and marketing facilities all under one roof.
  • - Tripura is one of four northeastern states among 11 national aquaparks aimed at increasing the state’s annual fish production target to 2 lakh tonnes.

  • (i) Over the past decade, Tripura has received Rs. 319 crore in funding through PMMSY and the Blue Revolution to expand its aquaculture sector.
