Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, launched Kisan Kavach, India’s first anti-pesticide bodysuit.

  • - This bodysuit is designed to protect farmers from the harmful effects of pesticide exposure.
  • - Dr. Jitendra Singh is also the Minister of State for the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, and Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) Kisan Kavach was developed by the Department of Biotechnology's BRIC-inStem and Sepio Health Pvt. Ltd., both based in Bangalore, Karnataka.
  • (ii) The Kisan Kavach Protective Shield includes a full-body suit, mask, headshield, and gloves, providing complete protection. The suit costs Rs 4,000.
  • (iii) Other participants in the launch included Dr. Rajesh S. Gokhale (Secretary, Department of Biotechnology), Dr. Maneesha Inamdar (Director, BRIC-inStem), and Dr. Alka Sharma (Scientist 'H' and Senior Adviser, DBT).
